Dr. Cabel McDonald

Cabel McDonald, DDS

Dr. Cabel McDonald brings decades of clinical experience, leadership, and surgical expertise to the field of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. A proud Texas native, Dr. McDonald is excited to return home with his wife, Michelle, after more than 27 years away reconnecting with their roots and the family that has remained in Texas. Having grown up throughout West Texas and southeastern New Mexico, including Andrews, Lovington, Midland, Seminole, and Hobbs, he has deep ties to the communities he now serves.

Dr. McDonald earned his undergraduate degree in Computer Science from New Mexico State University in 2003. He then pursued his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Missouri, Kansas City School of Dentistry. Upon graduation, he was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army, beginning a distinguished military career that would shape his surgical path.

He first served at Fort Lewis, Washington, where he completed an intensive 9 month Advanced Education in General Dentistry program. Driven by a passion for surgery, Dr. McDonald went on to complete his Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the prestigious Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

Following his residency, Dr. McDonald was stationed at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, where he spent four years mentoring Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residents and serving as Officer in Charge of the clinic. During this time, he achieved Board Certification by the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and earned Fellow status with the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons.

He was later stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas, where he continued his commitment to surgical education as an attending surgeon, training Oral Surgery residents. During this time, he also completed a comprehensive mini-residency in Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Surgery, developing advanced skills in both arthroscopic and open joint procedures.

Following his distinguished military service, Dr. McDonald owned and operated a successful private Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery practice for eight years. During this time, he provided a full scope of surgical care, with a particular focus on dental implants and full-mouth reconstruction. His expertise in implant placement allowed him to help patients regain both function and confidence. Known for his meticulous technique and patient first approach, Dr. McDonald earned the trust and respect of both his patients and referring providers throughout the community.

Dr. McDonald and his wife Michelle, high school sweethearts who have been married since 2000, are thrilled to be returning to Texas. After many years of service and professional growth across the country, they are grateful to once again call Texas home and be close to family.
